Four years ago in Wuyi Spirit Tea inquired with friends, the Zhou family, if they had considered making their Qi Lan cultivar as a black tea process. Though they had not at the time, they were willing, for future harvests, to devote a portion of their garden’s tiny yield towards that purpose, provided Spirit Tea purchased the lot in advance. Year after year, they were too late, too short on funds or lacked conviction. Finally, this year, they were able to realize the exclusive microlot. As you will taste, the result was well worth the risk.
